Why does Hood need my phone number to register ?

We use your phone number to secure your accounts and authenticate your ID through an OTP (one-time password). This prevents spam accounts and makes sure only you have access to your account.

Why does Hood need to access my phonebook ?

By accessing your phonebook Hood anonymously connects you to your contacts who will be anonymous as well. While browsing your timeline your connections post will be viewed first.

What is the username ?

On Hood, your username is your identity. You will have to make a username while signing up and that can be changed at any time. Profile > Edit Username > Enter new name > Click on save.

How will Hood use my personal information ?

We are not like the apps that promise privacy and sell your data to 3rd party advertisers. Hood’s will not use your data for any kinds of ads. What happens on Hood stays on Hood. No one will be able to contact you outside the app.

How do you make sure our anonymity remains intact

Hood believes in anonymity at par. We have a strong security team that won’t let your data out at any point.

Do I have to pay for the service ?

Hood is free to use for all users.

How is my timeline sorted ?

Using a smart algorithm Hood shows content based on your interests and connections from your contacts.

How do I report spam or harmful content?

To report a post, press the 3 dots on the post and click report. Our team of moderators will verify it and take the action needed.

How do I make connections on Hood ?

You will be able to follow users and have others follow you. A direct messaging feature will be released with further updates.

What about versions and updates ?

The current version of the app is the first working version released for public use. We have plans to update the app every month with exciting new features based on user feedback.

Can I edit a post once it is published ?

The current version app does not allow edits on a post but future versions of the app will add the feature.

How do I delete a post ?

This is not a feature with the current version of the app, but will be made available in upcoming updates.

Can I change my phone number ?

With this version of the app only the username can be changed. However, in the future versions of the app this will be a feature.

How to deactivate your account on Hood?

Deactivating your Hood account initiates a 30-day period that gives you time to decide if you would like to reactivate your account. If you do not access your account within the 30-day deactivation period, your account will be deleted and the username will no longer be associated with your account.

Here is what happens if you deactivate your account on Hood:

  • Once you initiate deactivation of your account, other users will not be able to see your posts, comments or replies on the platform.
  • Mentions of your account’s username in other’s posts/comments will still exist. However it will no longer link to your profile as your profile will no longer be available.
  • Logging into your account within the 30-day deactivation window easily restores your account and data.
  • Ownership of the groups that only you control will be transferred to another member of the group in no specific order. If you decide to reactivate your account within 30 days - you will regain the control of the group by default.
  • Hood may retain some information on your deactivated account to ensure the safety and security of its platform and people using Hood (In compliance with govt. laws and regulations).
